Why do I react like this?

A guided reflection to understand yourself with more curiosity and less judgement.

Have you ever wondered why you react the way you do?

Maybe you overthink conversations, find it difficult to say no, put other people's needs before your own, try to stay in control or find yourself reacting more strongly than you expected.

Sometimes these reactions have been part of our lives for so long that we barely notice them anymore. They can simply feel like "that's just how I am."

But what if there is more to understand?

This free guided reflection helps you take a closer look.

Instead of immediately trying to change a reaction, you'll explore one familiar response from different angles. You'll look at what happened, what you noticed in your body, how you responded, where your attention went, what your mind was telling you and what you might have needed in that moment.

You don't need to know why you react this way.
You don't need to have all the answers.
You simply need a little curiosity.

Set aside around 30 minutes to slow down and explore one reaction that feels familiar to you.Through a series of gentle reflection exercises, you'll discover:

You'll have space to:

  • recognise a reaction that keeps showing up;

  • notice what happens in your body and mind;

  • explore how you automatically respond;

  • look at your reactions with a little less judgement;

  • discover whether there may be more to the story than the situation in front of you.

Hi, I'm Charissa.

For over 10 years, I've been helping people understand the patterns behind their thoughts, emotions, behaviour and relationships.

Over the years, I've noticed something again and again: we often judge ourselves for the way we react without taking the time to understand what is actually happening underneath.

We don't always need to change ourselves first. Sometimes, we need to understand ourselves first.

That's why I created Why do I react like this?

Not to give you all the answers. But to help you pause, notice and become curious about your own reactions before trying to change them.

Because I believe understanding creates space. And from that space, different choices become possible.

This isn't about fixing yourself.

It's not a test, diagnosis or therapy session. And it's not designed to give you all the answers.
It's a first step towards understanding yourself, because meaningful change often begins when we understand what is happening before we decide what to do about it.
